Pre-operative Information
We understand that preparing for surgery can feel daunting, even for those who have been through it before. In the lead up to your procedure, you can expect Dr Lancashire and his team to guide you through the following care planning steps:
- Procedural Consent (an explanation of what the procedure entails, potential benefits and risks of the procedure, likely duration of hospital stay, anticipated post-operative recovery time)
- Informed Financial Consent (an outline of anticipated cost of the procedure, including any potential out-of-pocket expenses)
- Booking confirmation (the scheduled date, time, and location of your procedure)
- Request forms (these will be provided to you by Dr Lancashire for any scans or blood tests required prior to your procedure)
- Medication plan (instructions on whether you need to stop taking, or change doses of, any of your regular medicines prior to and/or following your procedure)
- Fasting plan (instructions on food and drink consumption in the hours prior to your procedure)
- Post-operative appointment booking (the scheduled date, time, and location of your follow-up appointment with Dr Lancashire)

What do I need to take to hospital?
Your medications (including a list of the regular medications you take)
Your x-rays
and scans
Any letters from your Specialist or GP
If you are staying in hospital overnight or longer, an overnight bag (change of clothes, underwear, pyjamas, toiletries, laptop / iPad / music device, books / magazines)
Mobile phone and charging cable
If you are undergoing breast surgery, any post-operative pillows or bras that you have been given prior to the procedure

Pre-hospital Checklist:
- Complete any preadmission forms provided to you by the hospital
- Have all preoperative scans and/or blood tests that have been requested by Dr Lancashire
- Check your admission paperwork for admission times and fasting information
- Pack a bag containing the abovementioned items to bring to hospital
